That one time I got lost in the Amazon…

Audio, Travel

I joined Dubai Eye 103.8’s The Ticket team today for my regular #WordTravel segment, to talk about a few articles I’d read regarding virtual reality and its role in – you guessed it – travel. We did eventually get to that, but we started off the segment chatting about one of the scariest things that’s ever happened to me: getting lost in the Amazon. That’s the jungle, not the electronic commerce company.

You can listen to the audio clip below if you want to learn a little more about my crazy (mis)adventure, and – in case you don’t believe me – I’ve posted some pictures of the balsa wood raft I went down the Amazon on. Oh, and also pages of my South American journals because I just had to show you how little the words are! How the hell did I even manage to squash all those tiny words together? Well, I guess when you’re carrying everything you own in your backpack for five months, you need to make things fit.

Anyway, back to the main point of my Word Travel segment today: virtual reality and the future of travel. Take a listen to the segment, and then read the pieces I spoke about below, if you like.
